Position Summary

Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Senior Manager, Spare Parts Operations to build SHMA's spare parts operations from the ground up in a greenfield environment. This role will ensure availability, accuracy, and efficiency in supporting service teams across our U.S. operations, mainly in California.

As a founding leader in our after-sales operations, you will establish logistics partnerships, design a robust backorder management framework, implement KPI-driven procurement systems, and drive the launch of accessories. A key challenge will be balancing service excellence with cost efficiency during the early phase of operations, when the vehicle population is still limited.

This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in shaping SHMA's U.S. parts operations for the AFEELA brand—setting the standards, systems, and strategies that will define long-term success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build SHMA's spare parts and logistics operations from scratch, establishing scalable foundations for growth.
  • Identify and partner with warehouse management companies and logistics providers to create a flexible, cost-efficient distribution network.
  • Establish delivery processes and digital tools to provide accurate, reliable lead-time commitments to service centers and repair shops.
  • Design and implement structured backorder management processes, including escalation paths, supplier collaboration, and proactive communication with stakeholders.
  • Define and track procurement and supply KPIs (on-time delivery, cost, inventory turnover) with dashboards, reporting, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Lead the setup and rollout of accessories and lifestyle product lines, ensuring availability alongside vehicle launches.
  • Develop cost-control strategies suited for early-stage operations and scale them for future growth.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in parts and service systems.
  • Provide system and process training for parts advisors and service staff.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Service, Supply Chain, IT, and Planning to resolve issues and improve operations.
  • Act as liaison with global supply chain counterparts in Japan to ensure U.S. and global alignment.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive, supply chain, or service operations, with direct experience in spare parts or logistics management.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in parts or supply chain management.
  • Proven track record building or transforming spare parts/logistics operations (startup, EV, or greenfield environment preferred).
  • Strong expertise in backorder management, supplier collaboration, and parts operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and operate KPI-driven procurement and supply frameworks.
  • Technical knowledge of automotive service and parts operations (formal training and/or hands-on experience).
  • Strong analytical skills to balance service excellence with cost efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Proficiency with supply chain and inventory management systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically as needed to service centers, warehouses, or headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications for Position

  • Experience launching or scaling parts operations in EV or premium automotive environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, warranty policies, or dealer network operations.
  • Prior success in introducing accessory and lifestyle product lines.
  • Bilingual in Japanese or Spanish is a plus.

Additional Details

  • Work Arrangement: Full-time, on-site role based in California (Torrance, CA primary location).
  • Travel Requirements: Domestic travel required to service centers, warehouses, or headquarters.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this position.
