Role Purpose
Corning Incorporated is seeking an experienced and strategic
Senior Manager of Public Policy Communications
to join our Corporate & Executive Communications team. This team member will play a critical role in developing and executing public policy communications strategies that enhance Corning's reputation, support business objectives, and influence key policy outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in public affairs, strategic communications, and government relations, with the ability to lead high-impact initiatives that effectively position Corning with policymakers, industry leaders, and targeted media audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Public Policy Communications Strategy:
- In partnership with key members of the Corporate and Executive Communications team, as well as members of the MAP Communications team, develop and implement an integrated public policy communications strategy aligned with Corning's corporate priorities and policy objectives.
- Lead public policy communications campaigns that clearly articulate Corning's positions on key legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of communications strategies with broader corporate and business priorities.
Content Creation And Messaging
- Create compelling materials such as one-pagers, talking points, op-eds, sponsored content, presentations, and briefing documents to support public policy and advocacy efforts.
- Develop messaging frameworks that effectively communicate Corning's business and policy objectives to external and internal audiences.
- Ensure consistent and accurate messaging across all public communications related to Global Government Affairs.
Media Relations And Thought Leadership
- Develop and execute media relations strategies, including message development, spokesperson preparation, and partner with corporate media relations/ company spokespeople on outreach to key media outlets.
- Place thought leadership pieces, op-eds, and sponsored content in targeted media to amplify Corning's policy positions.
- Act as a resource for media inquiries related to public policy issues, ensuring accurate and timely responses.
Reputation And Risk Management
- Identify potential reputational risks tied to public affairs issues and develop proactive strategies to address them.
- Design and execute communications strategies that mitigate risks and enhance Corning's reputation with key stakeholders.
Executive Communications
- Lead the articulation of public policy communication strategies for key audiences, including the Corporate Management Group and Board of Directors.
- Support select executive communication priorities for the SVP of Global Government Affairs, including presentations and prepared remarks.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Political Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in public affairs, public policy communications, government relations, or related disciplines.
- Proven ability to develop and execute integrated communications strategies that influence public policy outcomes and enhance reputational value.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong storytelling and editing capabilities.
- Media relations experience, including message development and placement of thought leadership pieces.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of the U.S. policy and regulatory landscape; experience in technology, manufacturing, or science-driven industries preferred.

The range for this position is $145, $199,870.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
