Apprentice Carpenter / Laborer Position Summary:

The main goal is to execute profitable production activities, as assigned by the lead carpenter, that support the goals of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Insure company and customer satisfaction through professional appearance, expert workmanship and polite communication.
  • Attend all company/client meetings as approved by the Lead Carpenter/Production Manager.
  • Be responsible for the efficient and profitable use of the company's time, manpower, and materials on each project.
  • Ensure the image of the company is supported by the appearance and activities of the installation teams and job sites.
  • Maintain an operational inventory of necessary tools, safety equipment, equipment, and vehicles to perform specific activities assigned by the lead carpenter or project manager.
  • Attend seminars and shows to obtain new product knowledge and new installation procedures.
  • Seek additional responsibilities and guidance from company management employees as needed to enhance existing skills, learn new skills, and create potential for advancement within the company.

Operational Hierarchy:

  • Apprentice Carpenters / Laborers report to the Lead Carpenter
  • Lead Carpenter reports to the project manager

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

· Dig and install footings using hand and power tools.

· Cut, Shape, and assemble wood, composite, and/or plastic sections with shop tools and equipment such as skill saws, chop saw, table saw, pneumatic nail guns, and various power tools.

· Assemble prepared components for various structures, including railings, windows, doors, steps, etc.

· Prepare structures for finish applications by planning, shaping, sanding, using hand and power tools.

· Determine type and dimensions of wood stock to be used.

· Maintain and clean equipment and work area. Maintain proper storage of equipment and debris.

· Learn all materials, tools, and different parts of homes.

· Perform related duties as assigned.

Direct Job Site Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

· Job site set up and clean up

· Moving and organizing building material

· Cleaning and maintaining vehicles, trailers, tools and equiptment

· Demolition

· Loading and organizing dumpsters with construction debris

· Digging and installing concrete forms

· Mixing and pouring concrete

· Installing framing, joist hangers, and other structural connectors

· Installing PVC trim

· Installing deck boards

· Plugging deck boards

· Assembling railing kits

· Cutting building materials to length using circular saw, chop saw, and other power tools

· Landscaping

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
