Do you have experience with hospital pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing cabinets, 340B applications, smart pump drug libraries, hospital drug charging and coding, and other applications supporting the medication-use process?

Three shifts per week (flexible on the days). Position is onsite at Franciscan Indianapolis inpatient pharmacy.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Clinical Information System Management & Compliance Directs the overall Pharmacy Department computerization activities and information systems including automation, system design, and functionality. Ensures systems are in compliance with regulations and laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and audits data flow for compliance with program requirements. Oversees the Pharmacy Information System for proper utilization, and documents user problems and errors to enhance medication safety practice.

  • Procedure & Policy Development Develops and maintains standards, procedures, and protocols to support proper utilization of systems, including the development of backup systems and procedures.

  • Reporting Develops, maintains and reproduces needed reports for operations.

  • System Implementation Coordination Coordinates implementation projects for system installations and enhancements, including system building, testing, quality assurance, implementation, post-implementation review as well as reporting project status to appropriate teams, committees, and executive staff.

  • Data Analysis & Recommendations Analyzes data and recommends a system or workflow improvements as a result of system enhancements or new system installations.

  • Pharmacy Information Systems Provides leadership in the coordination of all activities related to the pharmacy information system and automation, system design, and functionality.

  • Charge Oversight Maintains the formulary and associated chargemaster to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Reviews, evaluates, and monitors automated pharmacy billing systems. Works billing work queues to maintain charging compliance and interface error queues for HER data correction.

  • Problem Shooting/Issues Resolution Triages system issues and involves appropriate staff on problem resolution.

  • System Interface/Connections Oversight Act as a resource person for Pharmacy services in analysis/coordination of ancillary department systems that interrelate with the Pharmacy Information System and patient care. Maintains system interfaces with other Pharmacy systems in place (or future development).

  • Training & Education Provides user education and training, based on system enhancements, new system installations or reengineering of processes, to maintain a high level of effectiveness, efficiency, and competency in using the Pharmacy Information System. Identifies learning needs of staff and provides/coordinates educational programs and instruction.

  • EHR Medication List Management Maintains accurate EHR medication lists and the Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) data tables.

  • Continuous Improvement Collaborates with representatives from across the health system to develop and implement initiatives to improve the medication use process.

  • Order Set Development Assists in developing and implementing evidence-based order sets, protocols, medication builds.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree

  • Preferred Certificate PGY1 Residency Training

  • Preferred Certificate PGY2 Informatics Residency Training

  • Preferred Doctorate

  • 2 years Hospital Pharmacy/Electronic Health Records Required

  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) - State Licensing Board
