Purpose
The Director of Operations (DOO) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing company operations across all locations. This role involves directing organizational resources, implementing operational strategies, and collaborating with senior leadership to ensure the company meets its financial, strategic, and operational goals. This job description provides a basic overview of responsibilities and duties and may be updated at any time to meet organizational needs.
Role Objectives
- Collaborate with the CEO to define and execute the company's vision, operational strategy, and workforce planning.
- Lead organizational operations to achieve budget and financial targets.
- Translate strategy into actionable operational plans, including goal-setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
- Oversee employee productivity and build an inclusive, high-performing culture.
- Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of staff.
- Lead and mentor the management team to maximize operational performance.
- Direct short- and long-term resource planning and annual operations budget development.
- Establish performance goals, KPIs, and a responsibility matrix across operations.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on management for all operational programs.
- Participate in corporate and district strategy development.
- Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations and take appropriate corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement business operations and processes.
- Establish policies that reinforce company culture and vision.
- Analyze internal operations to identify areas for process improvement.
- Implement business strategies aligned with short- and long-term organizational objectives.
- Partner with CEO on sales and investment planning to support growth targets.
- Manage capital investments and expenses to achieve investor growth and profitability targets.
- Monitor performance using tracking systems, taking corrective action when necessary, and prepare detailed operational updates and forecasts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by company owners.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas Service industry.
- 5+ years in leadership roles with proven operational management experience.
- Experience managing multiple company districts.
- Track record of developing and implementing operational systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Strong project management, resource planning, and financial management skills.
- Experience with internal client management and process improvement disciplines.
- Ability to balance short- and long-term objectives effectively.
- Demonstrated intrapreneurial mindset and change management experience.
- Strong team-building, line management, and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
- Proficient in data analysis, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Ability to identify problems quickly and anticipate potential operational challenges.
- Willingness to travel as necessary to support company operations.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Strong background in ASNT, API, OSHA, ANSI, and ASTM inspections.
- Knowledge and/or certifications in NDT technologies: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Eddy-Current, and Visual Inspections.
- Familiarity with EOS System ("Traction" reference) and Netsuite/Oracle software.
- Highly organized, driven, and able to work independently.
- Strong understanding of revenue and profitability management to achieve 20%+ profitability targets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100, $150,000.00 per year
