REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy training, experience, and/or certification
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Good communication and organization skills
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Driving report from Department of Motor Vehicles must be acceptable to the hospital's liability carrier.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Secretary experience
- CNA II certification
- Microsoft applications experience
Utilize venipuncture and skin puncture techniques to collect patient blood samples. Instructs patients and others in proper collection of samples needed for laboratory testing. Assists laboratory technical staff in processing specimens including entering collection data in laboratory information system. May perform waived testing procedures as defined by CLIA. Additionally, may assist in/ perform specific moderate complexity testing following appropriate training as noted by CLIA. May perform general secretarial duties and computer applications, patient registration and order entry in the LIS, patient and visitor reception, telephone system management, specimen handling and routing. Follows rules outlined in Laboratory Compliance Plan for Appropriate Billing Practices and related policies and procedures.
