The Data Analytics Instructor will teach in CCNY's Data Analytics Certificate Program, designed for working adults who want to develop foundational to intermediate data analysis skills for today's data-driven workplace. Students enrolled in this program will also complete the Coursera Data Analytics Certificate, which supplements classroom learning with additional guided projects and exercises for deeper practice.

The ideal instructor is an engaging educator who can translate complex concepts into real-world applications and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for a diverse population of adult learners.

Status: Part-time, 6-8 hours a week, $65/hour

Schedule: Remote, two days per week (flexible days), from 5:30–8:30 PM or 6:00–9:00 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum and syllabus, and teach live, instructor-led online sessions.
  • Deliver hands-on lessons and projects covering data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Provide instruction on tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, and/or Python.
  • Develop and guide data-driven projects that students can use to build a professional portfolio showcasing their analytical skills.
  • Foster active participation, collaboration, and data-driven problem-solving among students.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Submit weekly updates to CPS staff on class performance, including attendance, topics covered, student engagement, and any issues such as absences or technical difficulties.
  • Collaborate with CPS staff to maintain and enhance course materials, curriculum and syllabus, and discuss new trends in Information Technology learning delivery.
  • Encourage professional growth and data literacy through practical exercises and real-world examples.
  • Promote a student-centered, globally-focused, technology-enriched, and community-aware environment in the classroom that encourage active learning and participation.
  • Create supplementary materials that support and extend the Info Tech curriculum outside the theoretical space, and include real-life concerns of workers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when dealing with private information. Sensitivity to and understanding of immigrant, international, and adult learner issues.
  • Respond to administrative duties, such as responding to emails, daily attendance, grades, and submitting them in a timely manner. Submit biweekly timesheets on time.
  • Manage classroom online, from creating zoom links to making sure Brightspace learning management is used effectively.
  • Work with CPS staff to improve program delivery and administrative functions from onboarding to payroll, from addressing of student issues to course evaluation delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data analytics, data science, business intelligence, or related fields.
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience (especially with working adults) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Tableau, and/or Python.
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technology in the classroom, including Zoom, Google Classroom, or Brightspace.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. International credentials will require professional evaluation. Please request for agency list that provide acceptable evaluation.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in an accredited program or university, both in-person and/or online.
  • Experience in managing and teaching courses on Zoom and Brightspace (or other learning management systems.)
  • Professional work experience in the analytics field (e.g., data analysis, business intelligence, data visualization, or related roles).
