Household Operations Assistant

Schedule: 4–5 hours per day (equivalent to 20–25 hours per week)

Location: In-home

Compensation: $28–35 per hour (based on experience, speed, and reliability)

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Household Operations Assistant to support the daily functioning of a busy family home. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role with primary ownership over laundry systems, household resets, and inventory management.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, multitasking, and keeping a home running smoothly without constant direction. Consistency, initiative, and follow-through are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Laundry, Linens & Clothing

  • Daily laundry washing, drying, folding, and putting away
  • Managing multiple laundry cycles efficiently with no backlog
  • Linens rotation (bedsheets, towels, kitchen linens)
  • Sock pairing, drawer resets, and closet organization
  • Light steaming / wrinkle release as needed
  • Seasonal clothing rotation and donation sorting

Expectation: Laundry systems stay current, organized, and never pile up.

Household Inventory, Lists & Ordering

  • Maintaining running grocery and household supply lists
  • Ordering groceries and household supplies (online or in-person)
  • Pantry, fridge, and freezer organization and audits
  • Monitoring inventory and restocking before items run out
  • Managing Amazon/Target orders and returns

Goal: No last-minute shortages and minimal decision-making for the household.

Daily Home Reset & Cleaning

  • Dishes (load/unload dishwasher, hand-wash as needed)
  • Sweeping and mopping floors
  • Tidying and resetting common areas and bedrooms
  • Trash removal, recycling, and box breakdown
  • End-of-day kitchen reset
  • High-touch surface cleaning (handles, counters, switches)
  • Bathroom quick refreshes (wipe sinks, mirrors, restock supplies)

Kitchen & Food Support

  • Light cooking and food prep
  • Produce washing and prep
  • Snack prep
  • Fridge clean-outs and leftover consolidation
  • Freezer organization and labeling
  • Dish and cooking-area cleanup

Errands & Logistics

  • Grocery runs and household supply pickups
  • Returns and exchanges
  • Dry cleaning drop-off and pickup
  • Package drop-offs and pickups
  • Prescription pickups
  • Light vehicle interior resets

Outdoor & Specialty Tasks (As Needed)

  • Power washing patio areas
  • Patio furniture wipe-downs
  • Trash can wash-outs
  • Grill cleaning
  • Pool toy rinse and storage

Vendor Presence & Home Support

  • Being on-site when scheduled vendors arrive (repairs, deliveries, services)
  • Providing access and basic direction
  • Resetting and cleaning spaces after vendors leave
  • Reporting completed work or issues noticed

See-It-Solve-It Support

  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Tightening loose handles or fixtures
  • Resetting spaces after guests or vendors
  • Flagging maintenance or safety issues early
  • Reporting leaks, smells, or wear before they become problems

Qualifications

  • Extremely reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable with a busy, physical, hands-on role
  • Strong laundry and organization skills
  • Able to think ahead and maintain systems
  • Efficient time management and multitasking skills
  • Takes initiative without needing constant instruction
  • Works well alongside other household staff
  • Calm, respectful, and adaptable in a family environment

This role includes noticing and handling small household needs before they become problems.
