Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the design and development of electrical control systems and software programs for use on Horizontal Flow Wrappers and Product Distribution and Feeding Systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop motion control, PLC, and HMI systems for various applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts and operator consoles on AutoCAD software.
  • Support technical manuals by assisting to create functional description documents for machine lines and specific machine functions.
  • Provide technical support to customers, customer service, sales and the project team and technicians when needed.
  • Work with testers to perform the system checkout and start-up of the integrated control system.
  • Perform engineering priority tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager on time and within budget.
  • Ensure sold machines conform to product and technical specifications.
  • Develop bills of materials for electrical designs as well as make updates to reflect any changes.
  • Minimal (typically less than once per quarter) travel may be required for project scope development or to assist in system startups or troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional manner while under stress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year technical degree (BSEE) or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing motion control systems.
  • Proficiency in RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, Kinetix Servo Systems and PowerFlex VFD's.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet communications.
  • Experience with safety of machinery risk assessments, SISTEMA and related standards.
  • Prior experience with automated packaging machinery with a good mechanical aptitude is desired.
  • Knowledge of NEC/NFPA, UL and CE guidelines for industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience integrating vision and barcode systems into PLC based controls platforms for vision-based inspections of printed data and product inspection.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team oriented with excellent communication skills, fostering teamwork and building a customer relationship.
