Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years.
- One year of related office experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with practicum placement of students.
- Experience with the University of Minnesota academic systems, infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
- Experience working with survey tools, such as Qualtrics or REDCap.
- Experience working with databases, such as ORACLE, entering data and running reports.
- Experience in higher education or a business setting of similar size and scope.
- Desire to participate in and promote process improvement.
Responsible for ensuring that DNP and BSN/MN students have timely and appropriate practicum placements to fulfill their education requirements in Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Manage student onboarding and compliance requirements to ensure students are prepared for their practicum experiences.
This position directly impacts the progression of DNP and BSN/MN students through the program. The ideal candidate is highly organized, takes initiative, and reacts quickly to changes and/or requests within multiple systems and timelines.
Practicum Placements (45%)
- Develop and implement an effective process to proactively plan DNP and BSN/MN student placement approximately one year in advance.
- Identify and secure practicum placements for DNP and BSN/MN students in collaboration with DNP specialty coordinators, Assistant Deans, and the School of Nursing clinical partnership coordinator.
- Work closely with DNP specialty coordinators and Assistant Deans to provide regular communication regarding the status of placements.
- Work closely with placement coordinators in the health care organizations/agencies to secure practicum placements for DNP and BSN/MN students.
- Provide timely placement communication to preceptors and students each semester.
- Work closely with doctoral student adviser and specialty coordinators to track student progression as it relates to practicum assignments.
- Ensure an active clinical affiliation agreement is in place for student practicum placements and/or DNP scholarly projects, and notify the clinical partnership coordinator if agreement is needed.
- Work in collaboration with the school of nursing clinical partnership coordinator in relation to new practicum or scholarly project sites for DNP students.
Data Management (15%)
- Facilitate systematic strategies to collect data and develop reports relevant to practicum placements, including, but not limited to: preceptor evaluation surveys, student employment surveys, etc.
- Develop and manage a process to collect and report preceptor information annually (e.g., credentialing, certification, practice, etc.); ensure preceptor information is current in the school's database.
- Develop strategies to ensure accurate, timely, and up-to-date information is available in the school's database that illustrates the current state of practicum placements and/or DNP scholarly projects. The accuracy of this information is essential to various School of Nursing functions, including the annual MERC report, the development of course schedules, and other processes.
- Develop strategies to ensure appropriate archiving of placement and preceptor information.
Student onboarding and compliance (35%)
- Manage the onboarding process for DNP and BSN/MN students, faculty, and teaching specialists each semester, monitoring and verifying timely completion of onboarding requirements and troubleshooting questions.
- Serve as a point of contact for practicum agencies for DNP and BSN/MN student placements, including managing the request process using site-specific software and developing/managing rosters.
- Thoroughly understand and interpret complex onboarding and compliance requirements for DNP and BSN/MN practicum sites.
- Manage compliance process for PhD, DNP, and BSN/MN students. Work in coordination with the Office of Student and Career Advancement Services and the compliance team to ensure that strict deadlines are met and compliance requirements are met.
- Develop monthly compliance reports.
Miscellaneous duties (5%)
- Serve as the backup for the other School of Nursing placement coordinators.
- Understand and be able to explain relevant complex University and SON policies and procedures as they relate to the Office of Academic Programs.
- Serve on ad-hoc committees for the SON to evaluate and make recommendations re: operational processes.
- Actively participate in OAP processes, making recommendations for process improvements.
- Act as liaison with other University units as directed.
- Attend necessary training to remain current regarding changes and trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
