DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Transportation Construction Inspector, your role will involve a range of technical responsibilities focused on inspecting materials and workmanship for highway construction projects within Engineering District 3-0. You will ensure that all work adheres to approved construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. Your duties will include overseeing the correct placement of various materials, such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage components. Furthermore, you will leverage your communication skills to collaborate with department personnel, as well as federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public, facilitating the effective management of all projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) ad-hoc as approved, after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
QUALIFICATIONS
**Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:****
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
*Special Requirement:*
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
