Position Summary

ANSER is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to provide strategic writing, research, and communication support to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense program. In this role you will create high-quality written and visual materials that communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Research, draft, and edit speeches, presentations, reports, and communications on emerging technologies and defense initiatives.
  • Develop multimedia presentations and written materials tailored to specific audiences, demonstrating mastery of PowerPoint and other communication tools.
  • Translate complex technical or policy information into clear, engaging language for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth research on technical topics, issues, and trends to inform messaging and content development.
  • Meet regularly with senior officials to advise on messaging, communication strategies, and presentation approaches.
  • Coordinate speaking engagements, briefings, and associated logistics to ensure successful event execution.
  • Create communication products across multiple formats, including speeches, blogs, videos, op-eds, articles, and social media content.
  • Align messages with OUSD(R&E) strategic communication priorities and ensure consistency of tone, content, and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to track issues, manage competing priorities, and respond quickly to taskings and inquiries.
  • Ensure all written and visual materials meet the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.

Required Qualifications

  • TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in discipline such as English, Journalism, or Communications. Will consider four (4) years of specialized experience, including military experience, may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in communications or public affairs.
  • Experience in communications, public relations, or journalism at the DoD or Service Component Headquarters level.
  • Prior experience writing and editing for multiple platforms and audiences under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in social media strategy and content creation.
  • Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Journalism, Communications or English.
  • Prior experience supporting technical or scientific organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
