We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant responsible for financial record-keeping, reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role ensures the accuracy of financial data, managing accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining compliance with various county / state regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills and a keen eye for process improvement. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys both the technical and strategic aspects of accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for management.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
  • Oversee and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Monitor outstanding accounts receivable and follow up on collections.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, tax filings (including sales tax), and vendor payments.
  • Manage new credit account approvals/ request.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and county/state financial regulations.
  • Assist in audits by maintaining accurate and organized financial records.
  • Implement and oversee internal financial controls to minimize risks.
  • Support the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving financial processes and efficiencies.
  • Maintain accounting software and financial reporting systems to ensure accuracy and functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, agricultural or manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of payroll and sales tax processing and tax compliance.
