One of our clients in government domains is seeking a senior Java Developer. This role is ideal for a more senior developer with extensive knowledge of Java with hands-on full lifecycle implementation experience, capable of wearing different hats as needed (solutions consultant, technical lead, project manager). The ideal candidate will possess strong solution knowledge and have completed integrating business solutions (from conception to completion) using Java to fit the client's needs. Given a successful effort on the primary assignment, additional code rewrite opportunities may be possible.

Skills Required:

Strong proficiency in Java (8/11/17+) programming language and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles. Expertise with popular Java frameworks and libraries (e.g., Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA). Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Proficiency in database technologies (relational databases like MySQL,Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server). Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle). Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly valued. Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and SPA solutions for front-end development such as Angular 4+ is highly desired. Proficiency working in common, open-source IDEs such as Eclipse and Visual Studio Code.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as lead Java developer on primary assignment. Collaborate with other developers to deliver Java solutions that provide the business-critical functions the legacy COBOL applications currently perform.
• Able to utilize current best practices and help OIC establish/refine coding standards. Work in an agile/iterative development manner to provide regular and routine evidence of progress towards completion. Work collaboratively with OIC IT team members and other subject matter experts (e.g., BWC team members) to determine the best solution approach. Designing, coding, and implementing Java application code. Adhering to timelines and development goals. Testing the stability and functionality of the application. Troubleshooting and fixing bugs. Writing documents and providing technical training for OIC IT staff. Maintaining the security and integrity of the application software. Prepares appropriate documentation (e.g., flowcharts, narratives, code comments). This is a professional-level non-supervisory position that will require coordination of programming activities being conducted by the team. Confers with other business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing. Works with necessary personnel to determine if modifications are necessary with interested personnel to determine necessity for modifications or enhancements. Leverages excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop new business process and programming solutions as directed by business and technical stakeholders.
Key Skills:

Industry/professional experience in Java solution development in the Windows environment. Experience with Java Persistence API (JPA) SQL RESTful web services JUnit Ability to propose, document, and implement software project lifecycle solutions (software and documentation). Excellent written and oral communication skills with technical and business teams. Experience working with and understanding COBOL code. Experience working with JavaScript frameworks and Single-page applications (SPA) solutions such as Angular or Blazor.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required
