Counselor LAC/LPC

Therapist LAC/LPC for the Another Level of Community Services (ALOCS) clinic. The Therapist LAC/LPC reports to the Clinical Director for scheduling and communication purposes.
An ALOCS LAC/LPC Counselor will:
- provide counseling sessions to members of the dealing with substance abuse issues, relapse prevention, general mental health, co-occurring diagnoses, anger management, domestic violence, and other underlying difficulties members may be experiencing. The counselor will work with family members as needed to help them understand the member's struggles in the recovery process.
- provide counseling sessions to scheduled members to help them process and resolve trauma. Dealing with trauma will bring healing to many areas, including but not limited to: physical, emotional and psychological abuse, substance abuse and relapse prevention, anger management, domestic violence, and other underlying difficulties members may be experiencing.
- Notes will be taken in the ALOCS EHS System, where diagnosis and decoding will be retained as ALOCS intellectual property, as employers own client information and records.
- Working efficiently with the ALOCS team to process ongoing concerns and to solve problems as needed.
- Completing other related tasks as needed/requested.
A quality candidate needs the following experiences and skill sets:
- Master's degree in a recognized behavioral health field.
- Associate level / Independent level counselor
- Fingerprint Clearance Card required; 90 days allowed to provide it (if necessary).
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Google (gmail, documents and sheets) and MS Word, Excel and customized EMR/EHR systems.
- The ability to work in and with the culture of a multi-cultural, community-based organization.
- Strong social awareness and compassion for challenging, sensitive interactions.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- CPR and CPI certification required within 30 days of hire.
- EMDR certification preferred but not required.
- Reliable transportation, valid Driver's License.
A high quality candidate needs these additional experiences and skill sets:
- 1 year experience working with the criminal justice system
- 2-3 years' experience in leadership/coordinator role
- Demonstrates ability to provide leadership and direction to case management staff. Must possess strong leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to plan and organize tasks, use appropriate time management, ability to delegate to staff as needed, and possess good decision-making skills.
- Skilled in strategic planning, policy & procedure implementation and program development.
- Serves as mentor, coach and teacher for peer staff, case management staff, treatment planning, ensuring adherence to philosophy, goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Clinic hours for ALOCS are: Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM, with early release after 1 PM on Fridays with supervisor permission.
