Overview
Our office is looking for an intelligent, detail-oriented front office medical assistant to work full time in our Gastroenterology office. We are located in the center of Huntington Beach in a beautiful office with views of the ocean and mountains. Some medical office experience is preferred but recent CMA graduates would also be considered as we will train. Some back office skills would be preferred. Your responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, checking in patients, checking out patients, calculating and collecting co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances, so some math skills are needed. We use an electronic medical record system called E Clinical Works. Proficiency in this system would be a plus but we again we will train you.
- * Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
* Enters patient information into EHR and verifies accuracy on new patients, updates files on return patients
* Answers telephones and triage them appropriately to staff or physician
* Checks out patients, collects appropriate co-pay, co-insurance and deductibles and makes follow-up appointment
* Performs office opening and closing duties.
* Keeps supplies ready by maintains inventory stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
* Keeps office equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
* Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
* Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational advancement
* Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments..
