Job Description
- Provide one-to-one support for students throughout the school day across academic, therapeutic, and daily living activities.
- Assist students with daily living skills including feeding, toileting, mobility, and self-care.
- Support instruction during classroom lessons, specials, assemblies, and school-wide activities.
- Adapt instructional activities and materials to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
- Implement behavior support strategies in alignment with school guidelines.
- Carry out classroom and therapeutic recommendations including sensory diets, AAC strategies, and feeding plans.
- Safely assist students using adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, standers, walkers, and strollers.
- Support student arrival and dismissal, including bus supervision duties.
- Maintain a positive, professional presence and serve as a role model for students.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and team members while demonstrating initiative.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and conferences in a prepared and punctual manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- College coursework, substitute certificate (or eligibility), or related experience preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs strongly preferred.
- Ability to follow instructional plans while working independently when needed.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and classroom professionalism.
- Physical ability to assist students with moderate to strenuous activities as required.
- Willingness to complete required background checks, registry clearances, and pre-employment drug screening.
