Description

Assistant Refrigeration Mechanic-Mount Sinai Morningside

Assists the refrigeration mechanic in effecting emergency and/or periodic overhaul and/or repair of major equipment assigned to the HVAC section; inspect, test and/or repair refrigerators, window type a/c units, Remington units and/or Market Forge equipment

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs refrigerators, Market forge units, window type a/c units and similar equipment
  • Replaces and/or adjusts defective or worn parts, as necessary, to restore the unit to service at the least cost to the Hospital
  • Assembles, disassembles, tests and repairs components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, valves, pumps, compressors, pipes, tubes, etc; Advises his supervisor of any operations deficiency and necessary maintenance and repair supplies needed
  • Assists the Head Mechanic, HVAC or Refrigeration Mechanic in the installation, service and/or repair of Industrial/commercial refrigeration or air conditioning systems as well as auxiliary medium and low pressure heating system components, air compressors and other equipment assigned to the HVAC section
  • Adjusts, calibrates and installs all refrigeration and a/c controls, systems and components
  • Repairs/replaces all assigned units and piping

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • HS Graduate or equivalent plus 12 months specialty training in refrigeration
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, cut, thread, bend and connect pipe tubing; solder or braze connections; develop skills to silver solder, arc or gas weld.
  • Must possess FDNY Certificate of Fitness G-60/F-60 Torch use of Flammable Gas and EPA Universal Certification.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $ $32.08 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
