Who We Are

Summer has raised $30 million to date from world-class investors, including QED Investors, General Catalyst, Greycroft, Rebalance Capital, SemperVirens, Foundation Capital, Story Ventures, NextView, Flourish Ventures, and the Financial Health Network. We've partnered with dozens of clients who pay for Summer to assist their employees and customers, including the city government of Alexandria, Virginia, the American Federation of Teachers, the American Diabetes Association, Asurion, the City of New York, ADP and more.
Your Role
As a Senior Member Marketing Manager, you'll help people take confident, life-changing steps toward financial freedom. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you'll lead strategies that connect people to the tools and programs that can change their futures — from parents planning for college and adult learners retraining for new careers, to borrowers navigating forgiveness programs and employees using new education benefits.
This role blends lifecycle and product marketing, combining data, storytelling, and empathy to drive adoption, engagement, and real financial outcomes. You'll design and run campaigns that inspire action, partner with clients to reach their people, and collaborate across teams to ensure that once organizations choose Summer, their people fully experience the value of our solution.
What You'll Do
- Own the strategy and execution of member lifecycle marketing, from awareness to engagement and retention, while developing campaigns that drive meaningful borrower participation.
- Partner with Client Success during onboarding to design joint marketing and awareness plans that support client launches and ongoing engagement throughout the partnership lifecycle.
- Develop event-based and seasonal campaigns (e.g., Open Enrollment, Financial Wellbeing Month) that increase adoption and visibility.
- Create user onboarding flows and engagement touchpoints that minimize funnel drop-off and re-engage lapsed users.
- Collaborate with Client Success and Member Success to build scalable playbooks, capture impact through surveys and testimonials, and continuously refine engagement strategies.
- Work cross-functionally with Product and Design to align marketing initiatives with product capabilities and user experience improvements.
- Craft clear, empathetic, and actionable messaging tailored to diverse borrower needs and demographics.
- Build reporting frameworks to measure campaign performance, adoption, and borrower outcomes, translating insights into recommendations for internal teams.
- Maintain a centralized library of member-facing communications, templates, and resources to ensure brand consistency and efficiency.
You Might Be a Fit If You Have
- 7+ years of experience, including 3–5 years in lifecycle, member, or engagement marketing roles at a B2B2C or consumer-facing company
- Proven record of creating high-performing campaigns across digital and non-digital channels
- A strong background in segmentation, personalization, and experimentation to improve engagement
- Strong experience as a storyteller who can translate complex financial or technical topics into clear, empathetic messaging for everyday users
- Experience managing marketing initiatives with complex external stakeholders (employers, municipalities, or large institutions)
- Analytical mindset with a track record of using data to refine strategies and measure impact
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excitement about applying your skills in a mission-driven, high-growth company tackling a major social issue
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience in financial wellness, fintech, benefits, or HR tech industries
- Background in marketing to diverse populations, including underserved or high-need communities
- Familiarity with lifecycle marketing platforms (Braze, Iterable, HubSpot, etc.)
- Experience in startups or scaling organizations where you built engagement strategies from the ground up
- Passion for helping people navigate financial challenges like student loans
Compensation:
$125,000–$145,000 + equity + comprehensive benefits
