Maintenance (High School or College Student)
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial Plant and the Business Manager, to maintain school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, safe and operable condition. Duties include maintenance and upkeep of indoor and outdoor facilities. Must be able to perform physical tasks such as mowing, painting, lifting and carrying.
8 hours per day ($10.45 per hour)
Essential Job Functions
- Performs tasks to keep school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, and clean condition such as clearing disposing of trash, cleaning bathrooms and floors, washing windows, dusting furniture and fixtures, mowing grass, and related tasks.
- Performs tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, and related tasks.
- Obtains equipment, tools and materials required for completion of assigned work
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the cleaning and maintenance of school buildings.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
- Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
- Occasional strenuous physical work.
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
