The Michigan State Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan's public-school system and generates revenue through the sale of Lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet. Profits from lottery revenue are used to supplement state education programs.
This position serves as the staff specialist with statewide responsibility for Special Investigations along with Michigan Lottery's Ticket Discounting Prevention program for traditional lottery games (4-digit number) by retailers and players. Special investigations focus on the protection of identified threats to the integrity of the Lottery. The increase of Lottery sales, prizes, vendors, games and plate forms requires the specific focus and special expertise of this position. This position is also responsible for the development and execution of plans to maintain and enhance maximum operational security of the Lottery's retailers and players in the operation of traditional draws games (4-digit). Other duties include Damaged Ticket Claims program, conducting complex investigations, conducting employee investigations and providing facility protection and operational security. These critical programs are critical to ensure that the Lottery's 10,000+ licensee retailers, who serve as sales agents are in compliance with the Lottery Act and Lottery Rule 432.6(c), , and and the over million players/prize recipients are in compliance with the State of Michigan income reporting and payments.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience in regulation, including two years equivalent to a Regulation Agent P11 or Regulation Officer P11, or one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 12 or Regulation Officer 12.
Alternate Education And Experience
Six years of experience as a State Police Detective Sergeant or equivalent may be substituted for the education and experience requirements. The determination of equivalent experience is based on a comparison of an applicant's experience and training to the experience and training, specifically as it relates to investigative training, of a Michigan State Police Detective.
Additional Requirements And Information
To be considered for this position, you must submit to the following initial background check requirement(s). In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, permanently or up to (3) three years, should you fail to pass/submit to the pre-employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process. Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test. This urine sample test must be administered within 24 hours, or your offer may be rescinded. An applicant must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed and permitted up to 3 hours to provide a sufficient specimen. It is considered a refusal to test if an applicant fails to provide a sufficient amount of urine for a drug test within the allowed time. Positions within the Bureau of State Lottery will require a criminal history background check.
