The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a faculty position in the Department of Physical Therapy. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor. The faculty member will be located on the Southampton Campus but will have responsibilities at both the Stony Brook and Southampton Campuses.
The Department is seeking a candidate with expertise in the areas of pharmacology, pathophysiology, and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. The faculty member will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Physical Therapy and will have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. All candidates should be prepared to advise students, provide service to the program, school, university, community, and profession, and assist the Chairperson with accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, recruitment and retention, external giving, outreach, and other assignments that contribute to program growth.

The School of Health Professions' Department of Physical Therapy offers a three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution or an earned academic doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or DSc, or foreign equivalent). Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice physical therapy in New York State. Minimum of five (5) years of full-time or full-time equivalent physical therapy practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time or full-time equivalent clinical experience in an acute, subacute, or home care setting (not including clinical experience as a student). Minimum of one (1) year of full-time or full-time equivalent higher education teaching experience. Higher education teaching experience includes serving as a teaching assistant, a primary instructor, or a lab instructor. Experience teaching pharmacology, pathophysiology, and/or cardiopulmonary physical therapy coursework in higher education. Earned academic doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or DSc); ABD or currently enrolled in an academic doctoral program is acceptable. Evidence of peer-reviewed publications. Evidence of other peer-reviewed, disseminated products, within the last five (5) years. Completion of ABPTRFE Residency in Acute Care, Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Geriatrics, Oncology or Fellowship in Critical Care. ABPTS Certification in Cardiopulmonary, Geriatrics, or Oncology.
