Job Summary:
The Lead Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of an assigned aircraft within the flight department. This position is responsible for maintenance activities related to the aircraft, acting as the primary point of contact for maintenance, and leading high standards of aircraft readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aircraft Maintenance Oversight:
- Supervise and execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on the assigned aircraft, ensuring compliance with current technical data, manufacturer instructions, and FAA regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks while adhering to safety protocols and operational needs.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, ensuring all documentation complies with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and industry standards.
- Review and approve maintenance reports and logs, confirming that all work performed meets regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as the primary liaison between flight operations and maintenance, facilitating effective communication regarding aircraft status, maintenance needs, and scheduling.
- Participate in pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings to address any maintenance-related concerns and ensure aircraft readiness for upcoming flights.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in maintenance operations, contributing to enhanced efficiency and reduced downtime.
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates, implementing changes as needed to uphold safety and quality standards.
Work Activities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks in accordance with current technical data, manufacturer's instructions, continued airworthiness, service bulletins, and FAA approved/acceptable data.
- Perform pre-flight and post-flight inspections, as well as on-site departure and recovery for every flight.
- Ensure all aircraft maintenance records are executed in compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).
- May perform other job duties as directed by company management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have A&P Certificate
- Valid Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) License
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate environment
- Strong troubleshooting aptitude is essential
- Experience with Gulfstream and/or Citation Excel (560XL) aircraft is highly preferred
- Inspection Authorization (IA) and/or Quality Assurance (QA) experience is preferred
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check, credential verification, and a pre-employment drug test per DOT regulations.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as per the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Physical Abilities:
- Sufficient vision to perform essential job functions
- Ability to work in limited spaces and hazardous areas
- Capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds regularly
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and stooping
Skills and Work Style:
- Strong understanding of systems and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to comply with company attendance standards
- Excellent time management, reliability, and dependability
- Must read and follow instructions, learn procedures, and adhere to regulations, including federal and local security standards
- Ability to work under tight time constraints and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Collaborative team player with a flexible approach to work
Other Qualifications:
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance per company standards
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
- Must possess a complete set of mechanic's tools
- Willingness to perform fieldwork outside the normal shop environment, potentially requiring overnight stays
- May be required to work long hours, as well as holidays and weekends based on operational needs
