Role - Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Plano, Texas ( 3 days onsite 2 days remote)

Position Type: Contract

We are seeking a Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong backend development skills in Java to join the Authentication Technology team.

Core Linux Responsibilities (Primary Focus)

Linux System Administration

  • Full ownership of Linux servers: provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management
  • Perform OS-level troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning
  • Manage user access, permissions, and system security controls
  • Execute shell commands and scripting for automation and operational efficiency
  • Installation & Configuration
  • Install and configure software packages, libraries, and dependencies on Linux systems
  • Set up and maintain secure environments for authentication services

DevOps & Infrastructure Automation

  • Integrate Linux systems into CI/CD pipelines
  • Use tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Bitbucket for automation and deployment
  • Monitor system health and implement proactive alerts using tools like Splunk and Dynatrace

Security & Compliance

  • Apply patches and remediate vulnerabilities in accordance with enterprise security policies
  • Ensure compliance with authentication and access control standards

Java Backend Development – springboot/microservices – expert

  • Develop and maintain backend services supporting authentication workflows
  • Build RESTful APIs and integrate with enterprise systems
  • Optimize performance and scalability of backend components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable solutions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert-level Linux administration (RHEL preferred)
  • Strong command-line proficiency and scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Experience with DevOps tools: Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket
  • Solid Java backend development experience (Spring Boot, REST APIs)
  • Familiarity with authentication protocols and secure coding practices
  • 5+ years in Linux systems and backend development
