Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized therapeutic services aimed at improving patients' functional independence and quality of life across diverse settings, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, schools, and skilled nursing facilities. This role offers an opportunity to work with a wide range of populations, including children, adults, and seniors, with various conditions such as disabilities, autism, post-acute needs, and geriatrics. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that promote patient recovery and well-being.
Duties
- Assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to enhance independence.
- Design and implement therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs in settings like acute care units, outpatient clinics, schools, or home health environments.
- Conduct discharge planning and coordinate case management to ensure seamless transition between care settings.
- Work with patients with diverse conditions including autism spectrum disorder, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, and those requiring post-acute or skilled nursing care.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and speech therapy principles to inform treatment strategies.
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques to support ongoing recovery at home or in community settings.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physicians, speech therapists, nurses, educators, and social workers to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
Requirements
- Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the respective state.
- Proven experience working in inpatient settings such as ICU or acute care units is preferred; experience in skilled nursing facilities or post-acute care is advantageous.
- Familiarity with working with people with autism spectrum disorder, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics (including early intervention), outpatient clinics, school environments, home health services, and outpatient therapy settings.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and case management principles.
- Ability to assist patients with ADLs and develop effective care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality patient care. This position is integral to supporting diverse patient populations through compassionate care and evidence-based practices aimed at maximizing functional independence across all stages of life.
