Project Manager – Power Generation

The Project Manager- Power Generation (PM) is a customer-interacting role responsible for commercial, administrative and technical support team and customer support "postorder". The PM works directly with sales, service and vendors or the duration of the project. The PM role requires excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of concurrent tasks, all while providing the necessary followup to deliver an exceptional level of customer service to HM Cragg's customers.

Reporting Relationship:

The Project Manager- Generators reports to the Generator Product Sales Director

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Post-Order and Project Management Support

  • Keeps project on budget. Ensures all requirements for an acceptable order are met.
  • Creates submittal packages, approval drawings, one-lines and other documentation provided to consulting engineers for approval, general and/or electrical contractor for installation, start up and test procedures for service.
  • Keeps project on schedule. Prepares project schedules, identifies major milestones, for overseeing, controlling, communicating and managing all activities through the entire project cycle.
  • Keeps project within planned scope. Uses available sales tools to assist in developing project costing for products, materials, labor, OEM services, transportation and logistics, start up and test and other project specific costing as required.
  • Coordinates project communications between all functional groups.
  • Maintains and tracks relevant shipping detail and logistics requirements to facilitate damage-free delivery.
  • Uses IFS ERP/CRM to accurately track all customer account information, performs timely invoicing through project milestones as required by HM Cragg's selling terms and conditions, proactively communicates with customers to ensure timely receivables- noting relevant communications and date to expect payment.
  • Provides customers with timely invoices. Implements collections escalation processes when necessary.
  • Periodically reviews inventory position of certain equipment and proactively orders replenishment.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as necessary.

Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Strong understanding of commercial and technical aspects of generator sales and installation and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to deliver high-quality service
  • Proven experience successfully managing a large quantity of new and current data while successfully managing projects on time and on budget.
  • Proficient or can become proficient in the use vendor supplied portals.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with very strong organizational skills
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or general contracting documentation
  • Strong knowledge of generator equipment and installation practices
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Strong technical and spatial reasoning abilities

Education and Experience:

  • 4 yr. degree or 2 yr. technical degree plus 2 yr. of related experience in construction project management, power generation, electrical or engine mechanical preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of generator products and familiarity with complementary and competitive products preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
  • Experienced in the use of project management software.
  • Excellent communication skills- in person, phone, electronic
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern business tools and electronic resources incl. computer, internet, email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams)
