The Community School of Music and Arts is seeking a motivated, experienced, fun, and engaging individual to teach in-person private violin & viola lessons to children and adults at CSMA's primary Finn Center site in Mountain View and in the Corporate Arts Program. This is a part-time, hourly position.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practical aspects of private music instruction and a solid understanding of violin and viola pedagogy.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in performance and/or music education with an emphasis in violin and/or viola.
  • Proven success in teaching in a private studio setting.
  • Experience and interest in teaching students of all ages, abilities and interest levels with an emphasis on appreciation and enjoyment of music.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach and converse comfortably with diverse groups of people.
  • The ability to communicate in a positive and consistent way with parents, students, and administration.
  • Performing experience preferred.
  • Experience coaching string quartets and/or other chamber ensembles preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • BA in Music or Music Education, or equivalent experience

SCHEDULE:

  • Teach in-person at CSMA's main campus in Mountain View.
  • Available to teach in the afternoon (after 3 pm) on weekdays and weekends.
  • Available to teach a minimum of 4hours per day.
  • Available at least 2 days a week.
  • Current need - Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays PRIME HOURS.
