POSITION SUMMARY

The Benefits & Risk Management Analyst is responsible for the administration, facilitation, review, analysis of all benefit plans as well as district-wide insurance and risk management programs. The Benefits and Risk Management Analyst monitors and reconciles reports as required and assists in the preparation of various reports and claims.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, benefits, risk management, Insurance or a related field required.
  • CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and the availability of private transportation
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 years of experience in employee benefits, insurance, risk management or in a closely related field
  • Experience working in a large, urban school district, governmental or public sector preferred

  • Knowledge of best practices in accounting, risk management, insurance and benefits
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Ability to communicate and explain facts, practices and policies to others within and external to the organization
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manages and monitors, under the direction of the Assistant Director, accounting, reconciliation and auditing of all health and wellness benefits activities.
  • Implements appropriate processes for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Monitors and evaluates ACA activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintains positive relationships with benefits and risk management vendors; proactively communicates with vendors to ensure consistent premium charges and insurance coverage for district employees.
  • Prepares state and federal reports, reconciling wage and employment data to ensure accuracy.
  • Provides effective and efficient customer service to district employees and external stakeholders in relation to premium and insurance inquiries.
  • Maintains and verifies Department of Transportation accident reports.
  • Maintains and provides responses relative to drug/alcohol testing history records.
  • Interprets benefits and risk management policies and provides clarification to district employees, as necessary.
  • Assists in the development and dissemination of benefits communication to employees.
  • Ensures all benefits plans and supplemental retirement plans comply with federal and state laws.
  • Reviews and evaluates the monthly reconciliation of health and wellness plans and payments.
  • Performs subrogation duties for liability and property damage claims.
  • Conducts and analyzes monthly reconciliation of voluntary health and wellness plans.
  • Assists in unemployment and workers' compensation claims administration.
  • Required to have prompt and regular attendance in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Mental Requirements:
