What does a Bus Driver (Head Start) do?

As a Bus Driver for Child Advocates of Blair County, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe transport of our young learners to and from school and various school functions. Your day will start with pre-trip inspections, guaranteeing our vehicles are in tip-top shape for the journey ahead. While on the road, you'll operate the bus with utmost care and attention, earning positive ride-along evaluations. You'll be more than just a driver; you'll greet each child by name, acknowledge their parents at pick-up, and ensure that no child is left unattended.

By maintaining clear communication about changes and completing essential logs and records, you'll help foster an environment of safety and trust. Join us in this exciting opportunity to nurture and support our vibrant community while keeping our children safe.

Requirements for this Bus Driver (Head Start) job

A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is essential, along with a valid Class B CDL License that includes both School Bus and Passenger Endorsements.

Safety is paramount, so a keen attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections will set you apart. Strong communication skills are vital, as you'll be interacting daily with children, parents, and staff, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, familiarity with basic software tools for maintaining records and logs will help streamline your daily tasks.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
