Overview

The Director of Student Health is responsible for managing all aspects of the Office of Student Health within the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA).  Responsibilities include maintaining accurate student health and immunization records, providing health records to student clinical rotation sites, providing evaluation of acute illnesses, performing some outpatient procedures, providing wound care, ordering labs and diagnostic tests including drug screenings, sponsoring vaccine clinics (flu and immunizations), and providing health education and counseling. Collect pertinent student data and coordinate with other team members for appropriate student intervention.  Work cooperatively with DOSA team.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate the University's core values intellectual pursuit and service to humanity through their work.  Displays an inclusive and welcoming attitude towards all members of the community.

The Director is responsible for providing an array of medical services to the university students. He/she is the custodian of all student health records and is responsible for insuring that all immunization and health screenings are up to date. He/she is also responsible for handling drug screenings and proving documentation to the clinical rotation sites.  He/she also provides health education and counseling programs.

Responsibilities

Education:

  • Master's Degree
  • Unencumbered Physician Assistant License or Nurse Practitioner License in the State of Nevada.   
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of principle and practices underlying the special field of student health
  • Experience in higher education setting preferred
  • Knowledge of State and Local laws relating to health and social issues
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in working with people from different demographic backgrounds
