Duties Description The Office of Information Technology Services is seeking a skilled ITS 4 to play a critical role in supporting the Department of Health's vital applications and ensuring their smooth operation. As the Application Support Manager, you will act as a lead for application deployments while building a strong collaborative relationship between the Department of Health and Information Technology Services (ITS) by understanding their unique needs, providing proactive support, and ensuring seamless communication. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Reporting to the Manager of Product Operations the Application Support Manager willKey Responsibilities:
• Directly manage Business Criticality 1 applications by overseeing a 25-server Windows environment.
• Supervise contractors providing leadership and technical guidance.
• Coordinate with multiple vendors and internal teams (F5, Database, Akana, LDAP, Networking) to ensure timely resolution of application issues.
• Leads the successful deployment of new software releases from development to production environments.
• Utilize a suite of monitoring tools (examples: SCOM, AKANA, Dynatrace, and SPLUNK) to ensure application performance and stability.
• Configure and tune Internet Information Services (IIS) on Windows servers to ensure optimal application performance and resource utilization.
• Develop and maintain deployment code using PowerShell scripting to streamline processes.
• Perform Microsoft Server OS upgrades to comply with N-1 requirements and maintain system security and performance.
• Orchestrate and manage the transition of multiple vendors.
• Oversee code deployment for a portfolio of additional Windows applications, including.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.
