In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision, architecting, and leading the implementation of complex distributed systems that are central to our VCF offerings. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our product development lifecycle and delivering those solutions.ResponsibilitiesDefine and drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for critical services within the VCF vCenter portfolioSpearhead the architectural design and development of highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed services that power our customers demanding infrastructure.Contribute significantly to the hands-on implementation of core system components, setting an example for code quality and engineering excellence.Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, acting as a key troubleshooter and problem-solver for critical system issues.Collaborate seamlessly with product management, quality engineering, and other teams to translate business goals into elegant technical solutions.Enforce the highest standards for performance, scalability, and security across the design and implementation of our systems QualificationsBachelors degree plus 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a lead architect or principal engineer role focusing on distributed systems or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experienceProven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.Deep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts, technologies ( e.g. distributed databases, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models)Proficiency in C++ required, additional languages (Java, Python... a plus)Deep knowledge of database conceptsExperience with virtualization technologies, particularly the VMware stack (vSphere, ESXi), is highly desirableExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
