About This PositionSince 1985 the Phoenix Fire Department has provided 9-1-1 ambulance services to the citizens of Phoenix. In 2023, the Phoenix Fire Department transported over 96,000 patients in response to 911 EMS (Emergency Medical Services) calls, resulting in charges of $116 million. The fees associated with ambulance transportation are user-based and require a complete billing and collection operation. Admin Aides perform a prebilling audit of the field documents, creating the cleanest billing document available. They submit claims, write appeals and process refunds in compliance with State and Federal Regulations. They contact and correspond with customers, hospitals, and insurance companies to obtain a speedy revenue recovery and an exceptional collection rate. ETS manages multiple medical and billing documents in compliance with both Federal and State confidentiality laws.ResponsibilitiesAdmin Aide duties are performed within closely controlled timelines. Daily batches of charges are processed and produced for medical billing. Individual accounts are constantly updated and submitted for payment. The responsibilities include and are not limited to:Audit the EMS incident reports to bill for fees associated with 911 transports.Search for and verify patient and insurance information (name, address, phone, insurance eligibility, etc.).Verify insurance eligibility with State, Federal, and commercial insurance plans.Determine level of service, treatment, and supply fees.Assign ICD-10 codes for standard billing to insurance companies.Prepare and reconcile daily transport ticket batches.Take phone calls from patients, insurances, and other associated parties.Answer billing questions; resolve billing issues; obtain and update patient and insurance information.Follow up with insurance payors on outstanding claims, online and over the phone.Review information from documents received from hospitals and patients, and update accounts accordingly.Receive and process credit card payments (phone / mail).Submit electronic and paper claims to multiple payors.Perform quality assurance tasks daily, weekly, and monthly.This is an in-person position and enjoys a 40-hour Monday through Friday work schedule.IDEAL CANDIDATEAbility to communicate in Spanish.SALARYPay Range: $ 20.51 to $35.08 per hour.Hiring Range: $ 20.51 to $31.82 per hour.Pay Range ExplanationPay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
