Northrop Grumman is seeking an Information Governance Paralegal to join the Intellectual Property, Technology, & Information team within its Law Department, working from the company's Northern Virginia location. The paralegal will report to the Director and Corporate Counsel for Intellectual Property and Information Governance and will work as a critical part of a team assisting with matters pertaining to information governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, and technology, including emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). 

The paralegal's responsibilities may include, among other things: 

  • Assisting legal counsel in transactional matters related to technology and information law, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and confidentiality terms
  • Supporting corporate stakeholders with vendor agreements for software, cloud, and technology
  • Interpreting government contract requirements for privacy, cybersecurity, and information security
  • Providing updates on on-going legal and regulatory developments in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, technology, and information law
  • Assisting with incident response activities, data subject requests, data mapping exercises, and impact assessments
  • Participating in cross functional working groups on information governance matters
  • Using corporate collaboration tools to coordinate across multiple legal disciplines on publication reviews and technology initiatives
  • Summarizing background information, case files, and related materials and identifying relevant information for analysis by legal counsel
  • Assisting with training material development
  • Supporting IP and technology licensing matters
  • Setting up matters in IP and legal management software
  • Reviewing and confirming outside counsel invoices
  • Preparing financial reports for requested business sectors
  • Supporting recurring metrics and reporting
  • Collaborating with other company paralegals, U.S. and foreign legal counsel, and corporate stakeholders on operational and strategic matters
  • Performing administrative duties to facilitate department operations, including managing correspondence and calendars, scheduling arrangements, and filing expenses

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and at least 4 years of relevant experience (law firm or corporate legal department)
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), SharePoint (or equivalent), and document review platforms
  • Experience using complex electronic databases, such as budget analysis and billing systems (e.g., Serengeti Legal Tracker or equivalent)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to express complex ideas clearly to various audiences across a large organization and with government agencies
  • Ability to execute tasks and projects independently
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective, collaborative relationships with others
  • US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and data privacy laws and legal management software
  • Familiarity with technology licensing and government contracts
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 4 years of experience (law firm or corporate legal department) specializing in intellectual property, cybersecurity, or privacy law
Primary Level Salary Range: $68, $114,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
