Overview

Join our dynamic emergency veterinary team as an Experienced Veterinary Receptionist – Emergency, where your energetic and compassionate approach will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals during critical moments. In this vital role, you will coordinate front-desk operations, facilitate seamless communication between clients and veterinary staff, and ensure a positive experience for every pet and owner who walks through our doors. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a calm, organized environment during high-pressure situations, making a real difference in the emergency experience for the client and pet alike.

Duties

  • Greet clients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service during stressful emergency visits
  • Manage appointment scheduling, walk-in intakes, and discharge procedures with efficiency and clarity
  • Manage multi-line phone system and hospital email communications.
  • Collect and process payments accurately
  • Maintain detailed records of patient information, treatments, and laboratory results using veterinary software systems
  • Communicate effectively with veterinary technicians and doctors regarding patient status and care instructions
  • Support laboratory procedures by preparing samples for shipment and attaching results to medical record, tracking receipt of results to ensure owner receives results.
  • Handle animal restraint safely for examinations or procedures, demonstrating knowledge of animal behavior and anatomy
  • Facilitate communication between pet owners and veterinary team about critical care needs or follow-up appointments
  • Keep the reception area organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies
  • Completing weekly reports within the software system

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to maintain professionalism in a difficult, highly emotional atmosphere
  • Experience in veterinary or emergency medicine customer service is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills are a must
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and follow directions
  • Enthusiastic and team-oriented
  • Ability to be patient and kind with all types of animals and people
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, restraint techniques, and pet care protocols
  • Experience handling dogs and cats with confidence and compassion

Experience

  • 5+ years of clerical/customer service experience
  • 3 years of previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting required
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, restraint techniques, and pet care protocols
