Playwright QA Automation Engineer

Our client, a leader in the healthcare space, is seeking a
Playwright QA Automation Engineer
for a 6-month contract role with potential for extension or hire.

Local candidates only; relocation is not provided.

This hybrid position requires working onsite in North Miami, FL Monday–Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Fridays remote.

This is an excellent opportunity for a
Software Engineer turned Automation Engineer
who enjoys building scalable test automation frameworks and leveraging
AI tools to streamline QA processes
. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on Playwright experience, solid JavaScript fundamentals, and a forward-thinking approach to automation using modern AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using
    Playwright
    with
    JavaScript
    (required).
  • Leverage
    AI prompting
    tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to assist in writing and optimizing automated test suites.
  • Build, execute, and maintain regression and smoke test suites across web and API layers.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and QA peers to define test strategy, identify automation opportunities, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Analyze user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specs to design effective automated test cases.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of automation frameworks and best practices.
  • Document test results and defects clearly, ensuring timely communication of risks and issues to stakeholders.
  • Identify repetitive manual testing tasks and drive an
    automation-first approach
    to improve coverage and speed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years
    of QA Automation experience with a focus on web application testing. This is a 100% automation focused position.
  • Hands-on Playwright experience
    is required
  • Strength in JavaScript
    for building and maintaining test suites and automation frameworks.
  • Experience using
    AI prompting
    to assist in test creation or script generation (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.).
  • Proven ability to design test strategies, define automation scope, and integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with API automation tools (ReadyAPI, Postman).
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test design principles, and Agile practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in the
    healthcare
    or
    healthtech
    domain.
  • Exposure to cloud-based testing environments (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, AWS).
