Position Title: Database Administrator

Location: Lansing, MI, USA (Onsite Required)

Work Type: Onsite Role

Duration: 13 Months

Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM

Note: Only candidates located near Lansing, MI will be considered due to onsite presence requirements.

Key Requirements:

Must be located within 2 hours of Lansing, MI, and available for in-person interviews.

Strong experience in SQL (10 yrs), PowerShell (6 yrs), Azure DevOps (6 yrs), Scrum (6 yrs).

Expertise in T-SQL, PL/SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.

Hands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Agent, SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera.

Solid understanding of database security, backup/recovery strategies, high availability, and development standards enforcement.

Preferred: DBA architect/developer experience and familiarity with ETL processes, PowerShell scripting, Azure SQL.

Job Responsibilities:

SQL & PL/SQL Development

Write, optimize, and maintain functions, procedures, and packages.

Review and test code for performance, scalability, and best practices compliance.

Support application developers with SQL design and data access strategies.

Database Architecture & Design

Collaborate with IT Architects to design robust enterprise database solutions.

Lead development and enforcement of database policies, procedures, and standards.

Plan database hosting architecture per State standards and business requirements.

Database Administration & Maintenance

Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across all environments.

Perform backups, restores, and recovery testing.

Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and security.

Manage indexes, partitions, statistics, and schema parameters.

Apply patches, updates, and version upgrades as needed.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Support

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system alerts proactively.

Analyze logs, trace data, and performance metrics to troubleshoot issues.

Work with IT and DevOps teams to ensure server stability and uptime.

Data Integrity, Security & Governance

Implement and manage user roles, permissions, and access controls.

Ensure compliance with data security policies and industry best practices.

Participate in disaster recovery and high availability planning.

Develop and enforce database models, access controls, and documentation standards.

Support data warehouse teams with data transfer and transformation processes.
