  • Minimum of 2 year's Freestanding Emergency Room registration experience required.
  • Experience with proven high performance working in a Physician's office or ER preferred.
  • Strong keyboard ability with accurate typing skills
  • Excellent spelling skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Excellent communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in a confined area and under mental stress at various times.
  • Must maintain a professional manner at all times, especially under stressful situations with patients.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication and quality patient service attitude.
  • Experience with patient registration required
  • Demonstrated attention to details.
  • Ability to perform basic math computations for calculation of payments, making change and preparing shift cash receipts reports.

Position Goal:

As the first point of contact with each patient and family member, the Patient Services Representatives initiate the message of welcome, caring and compassion with each person that calls or arrives in person at the Front Desk.

The Patient Service Representative will assist in any area required that suits the training and skills attained to assure the full team of patient care is supported and patient care is optimized.

The Patient Service Representative reports directly to the ED Manager daily and works closely with the Business Management Team in assuring the financial portions of the job are completed accurately and effectively, seeking and receiving guidance as needed. A full team collaboration is to be assured by all members of the Patient Services Representative Team, along with the clinical and business teams in support of the First Priority ER goals and mission.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Registration of Patients

All patients will be registered into the centralized patient registration software system as governed by Federal and State of Texas healthcare facility rules and regulations.

Patient Service Representative will assure that each patient completes notice of privacy practice, assignment of benefits and any other required intake forms and are, signed by patient and/or guarantor prior to scanning into the proper and designated system.

Patient Services Representatives will ensure that the following data fields are completed correctly and entered into the appropriate fields in the Practice Management System patients' demographics screen. This will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Demographics
  • Patients first name
  • Patients middle name
  • Patients last name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address (street, city, state)
  • Zip/Postal code
  • Sex
  • Home phone
  • Work phone
  • Cell phone
  • Social Security Number
  • Marital Status
  • Patient employer
  • Employer address (street, city, state)
  • Scan Driver's License
  • Scan copy of both front and back side of insurance cards
