U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda (HI-02) is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Communications Director for a congressional district that spans every island in the State of Hawaii. The position would manage the office's press and communications operations. Previous Hill or political communications experience is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate would possess strong writing skills, the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, and be able to collaborate with both the DC and district teams. This is a Honolulu-based position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, leads, and executes a communications plan for the office.
  • Handles interview requests and proactively pitches to local, national, and international media, including outside regular business hours.
  • Coordinates, prepares and staffs the Congresswoman for press conferences, interviews, and other meetings and events as needed.
  • Drafts press releases, talking points, speeches, newsletters, mailers, and op-eds.
  • Manages the Digital Director and any communications interns.
  • Must be willing to travel to the neighbor islands occasionally.

Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Salary for this position is $80,000-$95,000 per year. Interested candidates can apply through Indeed.
