Food Safety Sanitation Technician

1) PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in a produce processing facility. This role ensures that all areas adhere to stringent food safety and sanitation standards, thereby preventing contamination and promoting a safe, high-quality product.
2) QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Education / Certification / License(s): High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
b. Language: Bilingual - English & Spanish. (Preferred)
c. Experience: Previous experience in food safety or sanitation within a produce or food processing environment. (Preferred)
d. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. (Preferred)
3) SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
a. Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and hazardous materials handling.
b. Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
c. Familiarity with food processing equipment and sanitation practices.
d. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
e. Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
f. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to upholding quality and safety standards.

4) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Sanitation Duties:
i. Clean/sanitize food processing & handling equipment, including conveyor belts, cutters, and slicers.
ii. Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, walls, and other facility areas.
iii. Use appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants according to safety guidelines and protocols.
iv. Ensure proper use and maintenance of sanitation equipment (incl. pressure washers and scrubbers).
b. Compliance and Documentation:
i. Follow and enforce food safety regulations and company policies to prevent contamination.
ii. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation checklists and reports.
iii. Document cleaning procedures, including issues/deviations. Reports to the Food Safety Manager.
c. Inspection and Monitoring:
i. Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify potential hygiene hazards or areas needing attention.
ii. Monitor and maintain records of cleaning schedules and activities.
iii. Verify that all cleaning tasks are completed according to standards and procedures.
d. Safety Practices:
i. Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements, including gloves, masks, and goggles.
ii. Handle cleaning chemicals and other materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
iii. Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
e. Collaboration:
i. Work closely with production staff to coordinate cleaning schedules and minimize disruption to operations.
ii. Participate in training sessions and safety meetings as required.
iii. Assist with the implementation of new food safety protocols and procedures.
f. Must be willing to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
