Brief Description
The Store Manager is responsible for providing support, analysis, and recommendations to lead all store Management and ensure operational efficiency and profitability at the store level.

Concentrates on a wide range of compliance regulation, technology launches, policy and procedures and operational administrative duties, to effectively drive high performance. The Store Manager serves as a business partner to the store, field, and corporate offices.

The Store Manager is also the entrepreneurial spirit and visionary directing the in-store business functions that drive sales and profitability by increasing staff productivity, improving service and meeting business objectives.

In adherence to all compliance regulations governing the purchasing and selling of cannabis and non-cannabis product, the Store Manager will partner with the Retail District/Area Manager and/or Vice President of Retail to oversee all facets of policy and procedures and operational administrative duties.

The Store Manager's customers include all store employees, corporate business partners and customers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Sales & Profitability

  • Drive store's profitability by guiding team members to utilize company reports to react to trends and drive business.

  • Manage the store by providing various reports in all budget and expense related items to positively impact business decisions resulting in improved sales and profitability.
  • Responsible for all labor/payroll reporting and management to maximize efficiencies and accurate reporting to drive sales and customer service.
  • Prioritizes and communicates department issues to Retail District/Area Manager and/or Vice President of Retail Ensures expense controls within the store are met with various initiatives and strategies.
  • Support execution of designated category in-store promotions and GWPs to support growth of business and customer engagement.
  • Responsible for utilizing and communicating a centralized calendar of designated brand demos, trainings, and in-store events with peers to present a cohesive monthly and quarterly calendar for their store team.

  • Leadership & Communication

  • Support, contribute and participate in market calls and market meetings.

  • Lead and expect effective and positive communications skills in both written and verbal form, individually and from the team.
  • Act as a liaison to a new store within the market to develop communication, follow through and problem-solving skills while gaining a multi-store perspective.
  • Communicates store and company information/directives to the store team.
  • Responsible for communication of designated category promos and events to store team to align with global and store strategies.
  • Exhibit consistent follow through and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess and exhibits excellent communication skills, superior knowledge of business functions, exceptional budgeting and finance skills, and strong leadership qualities.

  • People Development

  • Assume the role of mentor instore with regards to talent development and employee mentorship.

  • Leads and supports staff development, models the way in maintaining relationships with our customer while enhancing the brands image through their team.
  • Strategically recruit, train, and develop a productive store team and provide the market with strong candidates to support bench strength for all our retail locations.
  • Determine staffing requirements to support forecasted sales and payroll budget, share pertinent information with the store team and peer group when needed.
  • Develop leadership team to ensure successful planning to positively impact business, ensure bench strength and succession planning.
  • Lead, develop and facilitate communication of staff education materials on all current and future product.

  • Managing the Environment

  • Manages the store team to maximize sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sale.

  • Coach the store team to take initiative as leaders to oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectation to create a positive store environment.
  • Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching store team on customer standards, product placement and time management.
  • Lead the team to uphold retail customer service standards.
  • Support the team by contributing to the maintenance of all product stock areas.

  • Operations

  • Manage the team to perform all store level operational procedures accurately and in a timely fashion, in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Manage the store's profitability and guide team members to use company reports to analyze and react to trends to drive business.
  • Lead, teach and guide team members to use company product reports to drive business.
  • Achieve store goals by training in loss prevention awareness and overseeing adherence to loss prevention practices.
  • Collect and compile store's payroll information weekly and send to appropriate Human Resources and District/Retail Area Manager and/or Vice President of Retail.
  • Conduct store audits on a regular basis and provide team with constructive feedback and obtainable goals.
  • Consistently evaluate current operations management processes to ensure they are streamlined and efficient. Communicate feedback directly to the District/Retail Area Manager and/or Vice President of Retail.
  • Lead and support the team in shipping and receiving process.
  • Ensure that all operational tasks are completed and all backstock areas are clean and organized.
  • Ensure compliance with all BCC, State and City regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with company emergency and safety procedures to protect employees and customers from accidents and incidents.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential

  • Delivery

  • Oversee the Retail Delivery business in accordance with sales and profitability goals.

  • Collaborate with delivery and store leadership to enhance delivery systems and processes.
  • Ensure a neat, clean, and organized store environment and stock area.
  • Exhibit a familiarity with current delivery product and trend awareness.
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of logistics, safety protocols and regulations around cannabis transportation and delivery.
  • Oversee the management of daily distribution activity and ensure systems are updated to reflect current data and information.
  • Oversee the management of administrative needs of Dispatchers and Drivers, including breaks, time off, payroll approvals, etc.
  • Oversee time off management for Delivery Team and ensure there are no disruptions with service.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Team to proactively mitigate any complications due to unexpected changes.
  • Complete reports and administrative work as needed and requested.

  • Merchandising and Display

  • Collaborate with store leadership to enhance the store environment and efficiently execute all inventory and merchandising projects'.

  • Collaborate with store leadership to ensure fast and efficient flow of merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Ensure a neat, clean, and organized store environment.
  • Exhibit exceptional knowledge of current product and trend awareness.
  • Support the store team by assisting in merchandising and display products as needed.

  • Interpersonal Skills and Ownership

  • Communicates and coaches effectively to all levels across the store.

  • Develops partnerships to enable business success.
  • Adapts to changes required by the business.
  • Acts professionally and with integrity providing open, honest, and constructive feedback.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must be 21+ years old.

  • Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience as an Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager in a retail environment.
  • Must pass a federal background check via Live Scan in certain markets.
  • B.A. preferred, but experience is paramount.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated businesses is desirable.
  • Uses sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Assumes other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills amongst peers and have confidence communicating at the store and market level.
  • Uphold excellent customer service skills and a service orientated culture.
  • Achieve statistical results (sales, payroll, shrinkage).
  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • Previous cannabis experience preferred.

  • Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional cannabis store environment.

  • This role routinely uses standard office and store equipment such as computers, phones, printers, POS.
  • This position regularly requires working evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms, and required to lift a max of 50lbs

  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position which reports to the Retail District/Area Manager and/or the Vice President of Retail.

  • This position can require work on early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Travel:

  • This position may require you to travel to corporate offices as well as other store locations for training, learning and development.
