Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, patient responses, and procedural notes in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records appropriately.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting proper medical coding for billing purposes.
  • Monitor patient vital signs during appointments to ensure safety throughout procedures.
  • Support infection control standards by following sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile environment within the dental operatory.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting is required.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is essential.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients or in pediatric dentistry is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes will enhance your success in this role.
