PURPOSE

The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for defining, driving, and continuously evolving the organization's Business Intelligence (BI) vision and strategy. This role involves leading a team of BI professionals to design, develop, and implement scalable and impactful BI solutions that support data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. The BI Lead will collaborate closely with various departments to understand business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and deliver high-quality analytical products. Lastly, this position will also include being the product owner of a Data Engineering team based in Europe.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • BI Strategy & Vision:
  • Develop and execute the overall BI strategy, roadmap, and architecture in alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data and BI tools to improve business processes and outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in BI, data analytics, and data warehousing.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of BI developers, data analysts, and other data professionals.
  • Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of BI projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and best practices within the BI team.

Solution Design & Development:

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable data models, data warehouses, and data marts.
  • Lead the creation of interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all BI solutions.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with business stakeholders across various departments to gather and understand their reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Translate complex business questions into technical specifications for BI solutions.
  • Present insights, findings, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for data-driven decision-making.

Data Governance & Quality:

  • Contribute to the establishment and enforcement of data governance policies and procedures.
  • Implement data quality checks and ensure the reliability of BI outputs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and discrepancies.

Project Management:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of BI projects, from conception to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or lead role within a BI team.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end BI solutions.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and database management.
  • Extensive experience with at least one major BI tool (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g., Kimball, Inmon), ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and automation is a plus.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in relevant BI tools or cloud platforms.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning, or predictive modeling.
  • Knowledge of specific industry domains relevant to the organization.
