Fellow Engineer (Hybrid)
opportunity to support the
Savannah River Site.
Work Location:
Aiken, SC (50% onsite, 50% remote)

Fellow Engineer (Hybrid)-
Duties

  • Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
  • Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
  • Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
  • Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
  • Lead task teams to develop solutions to more complex problems.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
  • Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
  • Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
  • Prepare reports for external publication.

Education

  • An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience OR a MS degree and 12 years' experience OR a BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. (Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in an applicable engineering discipline (e.g. electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, nuclear, chemical, computer science, computer related, etc.)

Experience/Skills

  • Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
  • Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
  • Can solve complex problems in field.
  • Shall have good communication and presentation skills.
  • Shall be skilled in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop/deliver technical classroom training is required.
  • Attend and qualify for Subject Matter Expert/Instructor Status on numerous training topics

Preferred Qualifications

  • SRS experience
  • Familiarity with engineering manuals, procedures, standards, and engineering programs at SRS.
  • Experience in area relative to course of instruction and teaching experience.
  • Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
