$ $64.95Major Responsibilities:- Maintains and promotes appropriate standards of quality for education in diagnostic medical sonography.
- Coordinates clinical ultrasound training with didactic education as assigned by the program supervisor. Reports information in all aspects of clinical education as needed to the program supervisor.
- Collaborates with the supervisor on devising and implementing strategies for the monitoring and evaluation of student performance and progression in the clinical setting. Assists the supervisor in conducting program evaluations and compilation of outcome data.
- Evaluates effectiveness and equity of all clinical sonography rotations and assures appropriate levels of student supervision in the clinical setting.
- Prepares and conducts classroom instruction for various classes within the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Conducts clinical demonstration sessions in correlation with previously presented classroom instruction and observes students' performance of these techniques. Establishes professional standards for students.
- Serves as a program liaison, resource, and mentor for each clinical affiliate.
- Collaborates with Ultrasound staff regarding practical experience phases of student training. Observes, evaluates, and records performance of students, rendering supplementary clinical training as required.
- Maintains student records such as weekly clinical evaluations, clinical competency tests, and classroom grades.
- Assists the program supervisor in the interview and selection of students for the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Participates in student recruitment efforts.
- Attends meetings and seminars, keeping abreast of clinical instructor techniques. Promotes the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography throughout the community.
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS), or
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS), and
- Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or
- Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in a general, cardiac, and/or vascular sonographer or radiologic technologist position and 1 year of practical experience as a clinical or didactic instructor in a sonography or related program.
- Proficiency in teaching methodology, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and guidance.
- Maintains superior scanning skills and is current in all aspects of clinical knowledge.
- Strong self-direction and motivation.
- Ability to compile and assess statistical data.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with diverse groups.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must be able to stand 50 percent of the workday.
- Must be able to frequently push or pull up to 100 lbs.
- Must have clear speech, hearing, and vision.
- Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
- Must wear protective clothing (i.e. lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear, etc.) as needed.
