Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This individual will play a key role in the full design cycle of switchgear projects—from concept to final drawing release—ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with all applicable standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in power distribution, protection, and control systems, and serve as a technical leader within our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain single-line, three-line, and control/wiring diagrams for custom switchgear projects.
- Lead the electrical design process from customer specifications through manufacturing release.
- Configure and program protection relays (e.g., SEL, ABB, Siemens, Schneider).
- Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using industry-standard software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).
- Collaborate with mechanical, production, and project management teams to ensure timely and accurate project execution.
- Review and approve all electrical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with UL, ANSI, IEEE, and NEC standards.
- Provide technical support during production, testing, and field startup phases.
- Mentor junior engineers and drafters in design practices and standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, technologies, and best practices in power system design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in switchgear, power distribution, or industrial electrical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
- Experience with relay programming, protective coordination, and arc flash analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of UL891, UL1558, ANSI C37, and IEEE standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
