Duties
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate metal components.
- Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques to join various metals including sheet metal and pipe materials.
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and machining equipment to shape, cut, bend, and assemble metal parts.
- Measure dimensions precisely with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accuracy according to specifications.
- Operate rigging equipment and forklifts safely for material handling and assembly tasks on construction sites or manufacturing floors.
- Fabricate ductwork, piping systems, or structural components adhering to ASME codes & standards while maintaining quality control throughout the process.
- Assist in pipe threading, soldering, mechanical assembly, and other fabrication activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to welding, machining, rigging, and construction site procedures.
- Collaborate with team members on project timelines, troubleshoot fabrication issues, and optimize processes for efficiency.
- Document work progress accurately through reports and logs for quality assurance purposes.
Requirements
- Proven construction site experience or manufacturing background involving metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in MIG welding; TIG welding skills are highly desirable for precise applications.
- Familiarity with FCAW welding processes; knowledge of welding preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings confidently.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes including pipe threading, soldering, assembly, and machining.
- Experience operating rigging equipment such as cranes or forklifts safely within a construction or manufacturing environment.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations integral to fabrication tasks.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards applicable to welding and fabrication projects.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities in fast-paced settings.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team on diverse projects requiring precision craftsmanship.
