About the position:

We are seeking a Staff Product Engineering Consultant with subject matter expertise in Asset Management (Buy-side). This role will provide technical product leadership on complex projects, guiding teams in building high-impact applications that enable investors, portfolio managers, and operations teams to make data-driven decisions with confidence. The Staff Product Engineering Consultant will guide project outcomes, support new account openings, handle the technical components of RFPs and SOWs, and serve as a leader and mentor to the Product Engineering Practice. Day-to-day, you will shape end-to-end solutions, balancing architecture, delivery, and client collaboration. You'll be embedded alongside business stakeholders, helping connect strategy and execution through reliable, scalable technology.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Solution Architecture & Domain Expertise
  • Partner with client investment operations, analytics, and internal teams to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.
  • Own architectural design for data pipelines, APIs, and microservices on AWS or Azure, prioritizing automation, observability, and governance.
  • Drive delivery excellence through CI/CD, test coverage, and proactive monitoring within Agile teams.
  • Lead architectural discussions, provide technical direction, and shape client roadmaps.
  • Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
  • Oversee the delivery of projects focused on the development or modernization of portfolio and asset management systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and strong data integrity.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams (engineering, infrastructure, security) to achieve client goals.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, building lasting client relationships.
  • Contribute to pre-sales efforts, including discovery sessions, solution design, and the technical portions of proposals and SOWs.
  • Support account growth through subject matter expertise and consultative engagement.
  • Client & Team Development
  • Collaborate across practices to align with firm-wide technology strategy.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews and design discussions to strengthen technical consistency and culture.
  • Guide clients on best practices in platform modernization, data management, and application architecture.
  • Develop thought leadership through blogs, events, or industry insights.
  • Stay current with modern frameworks, tools, and emerging technologies.
Competencies we are looking for:
  • Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in investment management, private equity, or financial analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, delivering scalable, reliable technical solutions as a technical lead.
  • 5+ years of experience designing cloud-native applications (AWS or Azure) using microservices, APIs, containers, and serverless functions.
  • 5+ years of experience with Python, SQL, and data modeling, building production-grade systems for complex financial data.
  • Proven experience contributing to the design or implementation of an analytical security master or enterprise reference data platform supporting portfolio, risk, or analytics systems.
  • Familiarity with financial data vendors/APIs, data governance, and security in regulated environments.
  • Experience integrating multiple systems of record (fund accounting, CRM, ESG, market data).
  • Familiarity with React and TypeScript for front-end insights dashboards.
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience designing or modernizing multi-fund or multi-portfolio platforms (data layers, analytics engines, APIs).
  • Experience leading the design or implementation of a firm-wide analytical security master or golden source of reference data, improving transparency, data lineage, and model accuracy across portfolio and risk applications.
  • Working experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Proven success in creating reusable frameworks and services to accelerate delivery.
  • Experience with analytical frameworks like Pandas or NumPy.
  • Partner with architecture, investment, and operations leaders to design scalable solutions that support portfolio management, analytics, and reporting.

$150,000 - $180,000 a year Base salary range will be dependent on geographic location and experience.
