We aim to ensure the long-term success of our clients' investment properties through research-informed design strategies. Our primary target audience includes short-term rental investors.

Job Overview

As the Director of Client Marketing at Somerled Designs, you'll lead the strategic vision and execution of our branding, photography, and listing optimization services and guide the evolution of future marketing offerings for our clients.

This role blends creative leadership, operational oversight, and strategic innovation. You'll oversee a growing team of branding, photography, and listing optimization specialists and collaborate across departments to deliver cohesive, high-impact marketing assets for short-term rental (STR) properties.

Beyond managing current services, you'll play a key role in developing future marketing upsells.

This position is ideal for a strategic, design-minded leader who thrives at the intersection of brand strategy, creative direction, and business growth in the STR and hospitality industries.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the Client Marketing Department's long-term strategy, aligning it with Somerled's business goals.
  • Partner with company leadership to shape future service expansions, such as client marketing upsells—digital content packages, marketing collateral, social campaigns, and storytelling-based guest experiences.
  • Ensure that Somerled's marketing deliverables consistently position our clients' listings for success in a competitive STR market.

Client Marketing Growth & Upsells

  • Identify and develop new client-facing marketing services that complement Somerled's design and marketing offerings.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Client Success teams to communicate upsell opportunities and ensure a seamless client journey from design to marketing.

Department Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the Client Marketing team, including Branding Specialists, Photography Specialists, Graphic Designers, Listing Optimization Specialists and future creative roles.
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and development pathways for team members.
  • Cultivate a culture of creativity, accountability, and excellence within the department.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training for both employees and freelance contractors.

Operational Management

  • Build and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to increase efficiency and ensure scalability.
  • Oversee project pipeline management, ensuring balanced workloads and timely delivery.
  • Monitor quality control across all branding and photography deliverables.
  • Step in as needed to fulfill branding or photography projects during peak times or transitions, maintaining fluency in all fulfillment processes.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Partner with the Design, Operations, and Client Success teams to integrate branding and photography seamlessly into overall client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to align client-facing services with Somerled's external brand positioning.

Strategic Insight & Market Research

  • Utilize market trends and performance analytics to guide creative strategy for STR properties.
  • Continuously refine branding and photography approaches based on data, client feedback, and competitive research.
  • Proactively identify new marketing opportunities that enhance client satisfaction and business profitability.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, branding, or creative direction preferably within the design, real estate, or hospitality industries.
  • Proven success leading creative or marketing teams and scaling multi-service departments.
  • Experience developing or launching new marketing services or upsell programs is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of short-term rental (STR) marketing, including familiarity with Airbnb, Vrbo, and other hospitality platforms.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a focus on mentorship and team growth.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with creative intuition—able to turn brand concepts into tangible business outcomes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of visual branding, photography, and content strategy principles.
