Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the NMSU School for Young Children manager is to maintain the funding management and oversite of compliance for three PreK classrooms through a Reggio Emilia inspired approach. Manage enrollment and licensing compliance for tuition-based classrooms and ensure operations within set budgets. Supervise multiple staff members in different roles to create a successful working environment. Liaison for Myrna's Children's Village to promote collaboration and coordination between the multiple programs situated within and the College of HEST to ensure functionality of the facility as a lab school setting.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Experience with teaching in a higher education setting, preferably experience with mentoring pre-service teachers in an early childhood setting.
  • Experience supervising multiple staff members, providing ongoing feedback and coaching in classroom management, curriculum design and implementation through a reflective supervision model.
  • A minimum of five years experience in early childhood education (birth through age eight).
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with multiple stakeholders including families of enrolled children, staff, university students, and TPAL ECED faculty and faculty from Dona Ana Community College.
  • Evidence of providing service to the professional and/or academic community.
  • Evidence of managing fiscal operations including budgeting, reporting, and purchasing of an early childhood program.
  • Design and coordination of staff development opportunities.
  • Evidence of working with families in cultural context to provide an optimal learning environment for their children.
  • Evidence of professional dispositions that embody a spirit of collegiality and innovative collaboration to improve educational outcomes for children, families and educational stakeholders.
  • Experience managing grant funded programming
  • Knowledge of State funded PreK programing and FOCUS accreditation criteria.
  • Understanding of university systems, and approval processes.

Special Certification/Licensure
Knowledgeable of grant writing and state PreK funding procedures and management of awards as needed. Knowledge of New Mexico State childcare licensing responsibilities and Environmental Department requirements for the operation of a functioning commercial kitchen to provide care for children in a lab school setting. Knowledge of CACFP requirements with the ability to collaborate in all facets of the requirements with other entities under the same grant.

Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
